The Bowen Technique is a hands-on therapy applied using very gentle pressure. The practitioner uses thumbs and fingers on precise points of the body to perform Bowen’s unique sets of rolling-type moves which stimulate the muscles and soft tissue of the body. Recipients are generally fully clothed. Each session typically involves gentle rolling motions along the muscles, tendons, and fascia. The therapy’s distinctive features are the minimal nature of the physical intervention and pauses incorporated in the treatment, these pauses allow the body to incorporate the messages/movements made by the practitioner. This approach to body work is recommended for those looking for balancing the bodies nervous system and treating many frustrating issues that may have not resolved themselves during other forms of treatment.
