June 2018
Summer mornings…energizing,
Gentle yoga…body bliss,
Warm friends…mind’s rest…
A studio with a view.
My view started 50 years ago,
Sitting at the reception desk
At Cinema V.
This year, I invited students to use
The park as their focal point…
The park has always been there,
A soothing green,
A model for
Our balance and
Equanimity.
Then, suddenly
The heavy hand of storm reached down
Into our view, into our park, into our inspiration
And ripped away the tops of our beloved trees.
Slowly with aching hearts
Comes an acceptance of impermanence.
We honour the loss; we move forward.
Our park is still there.
The view changed; we value it more,
As always, when it’s gone.
But now, upon the ground of devastation,
We grow renewal.
